A book about bicycles . . . can there be anything better than that? Mark Pett illustrates this wordless picture book about a little girl, a shiny bicycle, and the meaning of persistence.
The little girl sees a new bicycle in the store window and rushes home to see if she has enough money in her piggy bank to buy it (hmmm, this is almost sounding like me!). Sadly, she doesn't have enough money, and decides to check with her neighbours to see if she can do some chores or yard work. She is turned away by all of them except for an old woman.
Together, they work throughout the seasons. When the weather gets nice out, the girl finally has enough money for the bicycle. She rushes out to the store, but the bicycle is gone! What happens next is surprising, unexpected and heartwarming.
When we are all together again I will be sure to share this story with you. In the meantime I thought it would be fun to share some pictures that I have taken when I go out to ride my bike. Can you think of sub-titles that might go with the photos?
