Bernelda Wheeler was an author, poet, journalist, residential school survivor, and social activist. Her children’s books explore traditional Indigenous ways of knowing. In her book, “Where did you get your moccasins?” by Bernelda Wheeler and illustrated by Herman Bekkering a young boy explains to his classmates how his Kookum (grandmother) made his moccasins.
November 15-21, 2020 is an opportunity to inspire cultural pride for Indigenous peoples worldwide to “Rock your Mocs” and for those who wish to stand with and support those who rock ‘em.
