Move Over Literary Book Bears

Mrs. Vickers

A minus 40C day is a good time to introduce the delightful book “The Very, Very Far North” by Dan Bar-el.

Literary book bears move over, Duane the Polar Bear is here. The lovable Duane has a knack for giving his new-found friends nicknames. He names the prickly, knowledgeable owl - C.C., the self-centered musk ox - Handsome, and the manic Arctic fox - Magic.

Duane has come to the Very, Very Far North to live. He finds a warm cave to live in and between naps he explores, makes friends, and finds himself in all sorts of adventures. His positive outlook and his sincere kindness makes him an endearing friend to both his new companions and the reader.

While this book is billed as middle-grade fiction, it will be a sure-fire hit for younger children as a read-aloud chapter book.

Happy reading!
