Egg-citing Story

Have you ever decorated or dyed eggs at Easter? Do you have a favourite colour that you like to use?


Todays story is "Rechenka's Eggs" by Patricia Polacco. An injured goose is rescued by Babushka. The goose breaks the painted eggs intended for the Easter festival and lays thirteen beautifully coloured eggs to replace them. Together they discover that miracles happen.

Words to know:

Babushka - Grandmother

Dacha - A cottage or home

Trundled - To move along slowly

Moskva - The city of Moscow in Russia

Kulich - A sweet bread

Pashka - A spread of cheese, butter and raisins

Onion domes - a building that has a dome that looks like an onion
